and the SCRIPT
GROUP PROCESS
One of the most exciting aspects of participation in a Screenwriters' Workshop script group is the possibility
of having your work read by professional actors for ScriptNight.
Screenwriting is a tough business. Hollywood only makes about 250 films per year, but over 40,000 screenplays are
registered with the Writers Guild of America within that same year. Competition is fierce.
Thus, to be certain your script is as polished and ready for presentation as possible, the Workshop has created
a process whereby you get as much help as you need to make your script the best it can be.
Criteria for screenplay presentation at ScriptNight
To be certain you script is ready for public presentation, you must
meet the following criteria:
I.
You must be a member in good standing of the Screenwriters' Workshop
II.
Your entire
script must be workshopped through an official SWW script group.
III.
Your script should be no more than 20,000 words in length. (Most word processing software programs have a word
count feature. If yours does not, then the script should be no longer than 100 pages.)
IV.
You must complete a 20/10
Evaluation*
A. Score at least 35 points or more, overall
B.
Score at least 3 points in all categories
20/10 Evaluations*
are completed during regular script group meetings (including the
last Tuesday Super Group). At least three (3) group members must be present for a 20/10 Evaluation to take place.
Once these four criteria are met, your script will be scheduled into the next available slot in the ScriptNight
reading series. You will be given instructions on how to prepare your script, a cast list for the casting agency
and a short bio for the ScriptNight program.
Best of luck to you!
